Rock Runner Racing - Professional Extreme Rock Crawling Competitors

Another Podium Finish For Rock Runner Racing

Salt Lake City, Utah (August 18, 2007)The format may be new, but the familiar name of Rock Runner Racing was once again on the podium. Joachim Schweisow placed third in the Modified class at UROC's inaugural RockCross in Salt Lake City, Utah. RockCross is a new form of that places competitors side-by-side through boulders, tight turns, and open straight-aways. The event was held on the manmade courses of Rocky Mountain Speedway in front of approximately 2000 fans. Media coverage was also abundant, with Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road, Dirtsports, Crawl, Pirate4x4.com, WickedMag.com, and Off-Road.com represented.

Rock Runner Racing went through tech inspection on Friday night and began qualifying on Saturday morning. Schweisow's first run produced middle-of-the-pack times as he got a feel for the course, but on his second qualifying run he was able to move up to third in class. This qualifying time provided Schweisow with lane choice in his first heat, allowing him to get the holeshot on Steve Bulloch and RJ Brown and remain in the lead the entire race.

In the semi-final, a harsh rollover cost Schweisow too much time to reel in leader Brad Lovell. Fortunately the Twisted Customs buggy was unharmed, allowing Rock Runner Racing to continue on. In the finals, contact with a competitor caused Schweisow to roll on the first obstacle; however he was able to right the vehicle and continue the race, passing Brad Lovell in the process to secure a third place finish in the event. Schweisow proclaimed "The prototype BFGoodrich tires I tested provided incredible stability through the corners and helped get me here" in his victory speech.

Rock Runner Racing will be competing in the entire RockCross series, including the next event in Pomona at the Off Road Expo in addition to their busy schedule competing in WE Rock and XRRA. For more event coverage visit Pirate4x4.com and Off-Road.com.
